Why some alert icons on my map have blue borders and some have orange?
The blue alerts are reports obtained from public safety records, which include data from the Police Department and Sheriff's Office. The orange alerts are the ones posted by your fellow BlockWatch users.
Why are some alerts highlighted?
Highlighted alerts indicate reports that have been validated or upvoted by multiple BlockWatch community members, signaling a higher level of credibility and urgency.
Why does the app make an owl hooting sound?
The owl hoot is BlockWatch's signature alert sound. Like an owl that watches over its territory, BlockWatch watches over your community — the sound is your signal that a new alert has been posted in one of your watched areas.
How do I grow BlockWatch in my area?
Share the app with your neighbors, coworkers, and local community groups. The more people in your area using BlockWatch, the stronger and more accurate the community safety network becomes for everyone.
I am a law enforcement agency and would like to partner with BlockWatch.
We welcome law enforcement partnerships. Please reach out to us through our Contact page and our team will get back to you with partnership details and integration options.
Why use Near Me/Watch This Area button?
The "Near Me / Watch This Area" button lets you instantly monitor safety alerts at your current location without adding it as a permanent area. It's perfect for when you're traveling, visiting a new place, or just want situational awareness on the go.
